What's it all about?
Unreturned and unknown love-between one heroine and her closest friend is showcased in this latest novel by the best selling author, Eden Butler. Follow the story of two leading characters happy with living their lives in the limelight as they navigate, heart break, tragedy and the realisation that they can't live with out each other.
What did I love?
This book had a lot of the things that I look for when reading a romance. The nail biting angst, the kindle throwing drama, the type of unrequited love that pulls at the heart strings and most of all a love story that takes its time to deliver that perfect ending. Once I'd gotten my head around the fast pace of storytelling that this author delivered I found myself adoring this authors style. The characters were fully developed and the heroine in particular made me smile throughout the plot. I love the friendships that were included in the narrative and in my opinion, Eden Butler did a fantastic job of pulling everything together to provide a book full of entertainment, intrigue and passion.
Why not five?
This is going to sound a little unusual but I felt like I was thrown into a book unawares of what to expect other than a romantic comedy of sorts and instead I found myself bombarded with too much detail, drama and information to process all at once. For the first few chapters or so (and even some chapters scattered after), I would constantly be trying to keep up with who was who and where in the timeline of events I was. This book didn't ease me into getting to grips with the characters, instead the author included mass detail all at once. For my tastes the book content could have been paced at a much slower rate, adding more chapters and allowing the reader to fall for the plot at a slower pace. However, with all that being said, this author has a wonderful talent at writing and I ended up adoring this book and feeling so close to a five star it's almost criminal. All in all I ended up being pleased as punch that I was given the chance at reading this wonderfully quirky, drama filled romance.
Final thoughts ...
I'm kicking myself that I've not ventured into reading this authors books before. But now that I've started my journey I'm pretty sure that I won't be looking back. This book was a pleasant surprise, one that was filled to the brim with angst, romance and plenty in between. Enjoy ... kisses.

Adults that seem stuck at the awkward age of adolescents, Will and Raine have been best pals for years. Their mutual love of geeky science fiction, they were fast friends but harbored hidden mutual feelings for each other. On the night of a pop-star's untimely death and their drunken vigil in his memory, tequila made their clothes fall off... well this just got awkward.
Very light in angst and steam, ISYNaDL is cute and quirky. I'd highly recommend it for fans of all things "geekster." Fans of Penny Reid type books would enjoy the endearing nature of the book, leaving the reader with a permanent grin for the duration of the book. Although different from what I've read by Eden Butler, this was a refreshingly different story for me.

I've Seen You Naked and Didn't Laugh has elements of cute and quirky, but at it's heart is an unrequited love story between Raine and her best friend, Will.Originally from Waco, Texas, Raine can't wait to get to Hollywood and become an actress. She moves with her best friend and lands a few small parts. In a twist of fate, she meets a producer and his wife, who help her find her footing and take the struggle out of her career. At the same time that she meets the producers, she also meets Will.
Will is an all-American, hunky, boy-next-door actor and the best friend Raine has ever had. He's protective of her and their friendship, even if she doesn't realize how deep his feelings go. After a night of drunken bliss, their friendship falls apart, but they're both too stubborn to work it out. Cue the angst!
I've Seen You Naked and Didn't Laugh is such a fun title, but I am not sure it completely fits the story. While there are funny and cute parts, I think it is much more angsty than I imagined it would be. Once I realized this, I settled into the story and really enjoyed it. The banter helped to ease the angst, for sure.
Will and Raine's childish behavior made me want to smack some sense into them both at times, but I loved seeing their story unfold, both in real-time and in flashbacks. I was rooting for them to work it out. After a decade in Hollywood, there is a lot of history and I enjoyed getting to know them and their friends. I could have used a little more geekiness in the story, but overall, I enjoyed it. This is my first book by Eden Butler and I will definitely be reading more!

My Review:
Between the large sections of angst and melancholy present day narrative, I relished the memories and recollections of the characters' flashbacks as their history was laden with bright and shiny humor, amusing texts, and witty exchanges. The larger present day chunks stuttered with disappointments, grief, heartache, and betrayal - tropes that I find painful and frustrating and make my heart hurt. Although, thankfully, events were not always as they seemed to the stubborn and shortsighted Raine – who was the first person POV narrator of the tale. Despite my innate discomfort with tension and conflict, the emotive and witty writing kept me engaged and on the hook. I am an Eden Butler neophyte, having only experienced her impressive skills during from a short story among the Night Shift anthology, but I plan to plunder her listings. She has mad skills.

This sometimes leads to jealousy and misunderstandings among her circle of friends. Occasionally, it inspires another's catty behavior.
This is a friends-to-lovers story about two people who just have to figure things out. It's heavy with platonic friendship also.

Each chapter is the build-up to the ultimate face-off between Raine and Will and my heart almost didn't know how to wait. There is plenty of angst and even a surprising sadness that I didn't expect but only added to the war inside Raine's head about what to do about her Will.
One I thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend. I have to add that I am beyond impressed that the author wrote this while displaced due to the floods that hit her home in Louisiana. Goes to show you, you can't keep a great author down.

My main issue with the book was that it was told backwards.

Problem is, all of this happened prior to the book starting. So by the time the book starts, Raine and Will are not on speaking terms.
They don't actually interact until after the 50% mark. Most of their friendship is experienced through flashbacks. We only get glimpses of what was supposed to be the perfect friendship based on trust, loyalty and common interests.
So instead of a „friends to lovers" romance this turned out to be a „friends who are not even talking anymore" romance.
The whole story is told from Raine's POV and together with them not spending any time with each other, Will comes across as huge dick and not as a sweet and loveable nerd.
He slept with her then best friend and tinkered with her career and groveled for like 5 minutes. As a reader we have never gotten to see why Raine fell in love with him in the first place.
Isn't that the thing about „friends to lovers" romance to see how the main characters already have established a deep connection? None of that was palpable in this story.
The writing in itself was good but the story was poorly executed.

These Characters Aren't Afraid to Geek Out!I've Seen You Naked and Didn't Laugh by Eden Butler has a little bit of it all -- its geeky and fun and the situations the main characters get into are hilarious at times, yet the author weaves in emotion an angst in this friends to lovers story. It's an uplifting story and Ms. Butler knows how to keep the reader engaged with her witty one liners and unique story structure. In addition, she tells the story of not just a couple, but also of a group of down-to-earth friends who become family, and she sets their story up against a backdrop of fame. For me, it made the story more unique.
Ms. Butler is versatile in her writing and this book showcases her talent. As I mentioned above, story structure is unique. Each chapter is set up differently and the reader is introduced to a scene after it happens, so the reader experiences certain climaxes after they are introduced. The way the author did this had me so on the edge because she kept me guessing the entire time about how a situation came to fruition.
The book is told in the heroine's POV, and Raine and Will, the hero, are definitely different from many characters I've read before. They are funny, sarcastic, witty, down-to-earth and definitely geeks! If you are a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Firefly, this book is for you. The main characters love to listen to Prince, hang out at Comic Con and quote Star Wars to each other. In fact, the author pays homage to some very quirky and fun celebrities in this book and I loved guessing who they were!
Despite, the fun and witty scenarios, this book has a lot of heart and depth. It's sad at times and angsty (which the author does really well), but the author brings the reader back full circle to devoted friends who are loyal, honest and like family. It was a refreshing and unique read.

Both Raine and Will seem committed to keeping their relationship status as "just friends" until one tequila infused night pushes them over the edge and into each other arms. Now that night is one Will can't remember-and one Raine can't forget.
As Will and Raine's relationship struggles with that fateful night, their friends struggle to put the broken couple back together.
As the truth reveals itself and the fallout begins, Raine finds that the rejection and betrayal may run deeper than she could have imagined. As she plans her exit strategy to leave Will and her problems behind, her friends have other ideas of how to fix the situation.
This book was a humorous, fun, read compared to other books of Eden's that I have read, yet her writing style adapted well to the lighter side of the human condition.
If you are a romantic comedy reader you will not be disappointed. This is fast paced and quick witted; an easy book to fall into and just watch the shenanigans unfold. You will find yourself rooting for Will and Raine immediately.
If you're an Eden Butler fan this is a must read !

I was left to wonder if the author's own personal experience at the time of writing led to the main characters first names?

My favourite part was the moving and poignant conversation she had with her mum, really beautiful. The title is so deceiving. There's was so much story and many characters thrown at you right away. True to Eden Butler's style there was lots of angst. I love Rainey and her feisty, take no s%*t personality, so when she buckled at the end after the big reveal from Will, I was a bit disappointed. She was just too forgiving for my liking.

Why did I read the book? Because of the cover and the title. I love both. And the best thing is that the story is really good too. I would recommend it to everyone who would like to enjoy a light romance between two best geeky friends with a little bit of drama.

I also found it hard to connect with the characters, especially Will. I don't see what's so great about this guy, except maybe the easy banter in the early days? I can appreciate that, enjoying just that sort of banter with my fellow geeks, but aside from that, I haven't learned much about him (halfway through the book) that would make me care for him.
Another thing that bugged me - though it's pretty much always hit-or-miss for me - is the use of geek- and fandoms. When it works for me, it's awesome, but somehow Firefly-fanfic-like AURA ("Captain Hot Pants", anyone?) fell kind of flat for me.
On the other hand, I *did* like the writing, there were absolutely beautiful and touching passages, so it irks me even more that I couldn't connect with this book.

The s Not at all what I expected. The blurb and title suggest light and fluffy and I expected a lot more awkwardness. Even their closet geekiness wasn't all that geeky. Instead, it was a bit heavier. I was sad and frustrated the whole time for Raine and some tiny part of the time for Will too. The whole story was the breakdown of the loss of their friendship and the ups and downs in the film industry. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the story! It just wasn't what I thought it was going to be.
The story was told in back and forth time jumps so sometimes it got confusing as to when things were happening and how it fit into the overall timeline of it all. It was an interesting style. There were really great characters that kept it together.
